About Cédric Hartland

Engineering Manager and Software Architect with over 20 years of experience transforming complex technical challenges into elegant, scalable solutions.

Hello, I'm Cédric Hartland

I'm an Engineering Manager with over 20 years of experience transforming complex technical challenges into elegant, scalable solutions. Currently, I lead engineering teams at Thales, where I focus on engineering practices, digital transformation, software craftsmanship, and building high-performance organizations.

Background & Expertise

My journey in technology began with a deep fascination for artificial life and artificial intelligence. I hold a PhD in AI from Paris-Sud University, where I focused on machine learning and neural network modeling for robust robotic control. This academic foundation, combined with decades of hands-on experience, has shaped my approach to both technical and leadership challenges.

What I Do

My work sits at the intersection of technical excellence (trying my best) and organizational transformation:

  • Engineering Management: Leading and coaching engineering teams to deliver high-quality software while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Software Engineering: Designing and implementing scalable, maintainable and fast driven systems.
  • Digital Transformation: Guiding organizations through technical and cultural transitions, from legacy systems to modern, agile and craftsmanship approaches
  • Skills Development: Teaching software engineering principles at engineering schools and mentoring the next generation of technical leaders
